Aunque lo pueda parecer el therem\u00edn no es el resultado de la nueva moda de las videoconsolas que permiten controlar los juegos con movimientos corporales. Lo cierto es que este instrumento es casi centenario y se le considera como uno de los primeros instrumentos electr\u00f3nicos de la historia.<br \/>\nSu creador fue un inventor ruso llamado Lev Sergeyevich Termen, quien en 1919 present\u00f3 en sociedad su curioso ingenio. M\u00e1s tarde marchar\u00eda de Rusia recalando finalmente en Estados Unidos. Fue en ese momento en que decidi\u00f3 afrancesarse el nombre pasando a llamarse L\u00e9on Therem\u00edn, dando nombre al mismo tiempo al instrumento protagonista de esta entrada.<br \/>\nEn esencia el modo de tocar del therem\u00edn es bastante sencillo. Fijaros que el aparato dispone de dos antenas: una larga y vertical y otra circular y horizontal. La mano que est\u00e1 junto a la antena vertical es la que controla el tono de la nota. Acercando la mano a la antena el sonido es m\u00e1s agudo, alej\u00e1ndola el sonido es m\u00e1s grave.<br \/>\nLa otra mano se coloca sobre la antena circular y controla el volumen. Si alguna vez hab\u00e9is usado una radio o una televisi\u00f3n peque\u00f1a con antena os habr\u00e9is dado cuenta que si cog\u00e9is la antena con la mano aumenta la calidad de la recepci\u00f3n. M\u00e1s o menos es el mismo principio que usa el therem\u00edn para modificar su sonido cuando se acercan o alejan las manos a sus antenas.<br \/>\nEn aquellos tiempos aun no exist\u00edan los transistores y el therem\u00edn, al igual que las radios y los primeros ordenadores funcionaba con v\u00e1lvulas de vac\u00edo.<br \/>\nEn este v\u00eddeo podr\u00e9is ver otra bonita pieza tocada con un therem\u00edn de aquellos tiempos. Adem\u00e1s han tenido el detalle de abrir la tapa delantera para poder ver su interior, con todas esas l\u00e1mparas. Alfred Hitchcock&#039;s SPELLBOUND (music by Miklos Rosza), the SciFi classic THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL (music by Bernard Herrmann) and Cecile B. deMille&#039;s perennial THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, are just a few of the movies in which this theremin can be heard. I acquired this unique vintage instrument from the Hoffman family in 1998 and have carefully maintained it and enjoyed playing it ever since. It sounds today just the way it sounded when the late Dr. Hoffman played it at the &quot;Casino In The Air&quot; on top of mid-town Manhattan&#039;s Hotel Montclair in the 1930&#039;s. In order to give the camera a better view of the inside, for the purpose of this video, I removed the two cabinet doors (which normally remain closed). El Dr. Hoffman era pediatra y m\u00fasico aficionado. En 1941 se traslad\u00f3 a Los Angeles y su gran dominio del therem\u00edn le abri\u00f3 las puertas de Hollywood, participando en numerosas bandas sonoras Entre ellas se pueden destacar &#8216;Recuerda&#8217; de Alfred Hitchcock o &#8216;Ultim\u00e1tum a la tierra&#8217; de Robert Wise. Es por ello que hay que tener mucho dominio para poder conseguir emotividad y sentimientos.<br \/>\nUno de ellos fue el mencionado Dr. Hoffmman.
